With comprehensive interference removal for assured data accuracy and intuitive workflows to boost productivity, this single quadrupole (SQ) ICP-MS will expand your analytical capabilities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A technique involving the introduction of liquid samples that are desolvated, vaporized, atomized, and ionized in an argon plasma. Each element has a different mass and, once ionized, forms its own characteristic mass spectrum. An ion counting detector counts the number of ions at each mass-to-charge ratio, which is directly proportional to the concentration of each element in the sample.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In order to cover a broad range of different applications, the iCAP RQ ICP-MS is equipped with proprietary skimmer cone insert technology that allows the operator to easily optimize the characteristics of the instrument. The insert portfolio comprises a standard \u2018High Matrix\u2019 insert to cover most applications, a \u2018High Sensitivity\u2019 insert for ultra-trace analyses, and a \u2018Robust\u2019 insert where higher matrix tolerance is needed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For effective interference removal in single quad ICP-MS instruments, collision\/reaction cells (CRCs) are most commonly used. CRCs may be operated in different ways depending on the nature of the interference that has to be eliminated, however, the most comprehensive approach is the use of an inert gas, such as He, and the use of Kinetic Energy Discrimination (KED).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In KED, unwanted polyatomic interferences are filtered out based on the difference in collision cross-section sizes of the analyte and polyatomic interferences. In addition, the proprietary design of the Thermo Scientific QCell\u2122 CRC adds an automatically configured low mass cut-off to the interference removal toolbox, which filters out unwanted precursor ions.
